About Charles Gaetjens
Charlie Gaetjens has always chosen careers that involve a high degree of interaction with others, whether as a teacher or as a team leader. Before pursuing real estate sales, Charlie spent 10 years at American Express, most recently as the Director of Finance for Global Real Estate & Workplace Enablement where he led a global team and was responsible for an annual budget of $200M. While at Amex he developed a reputation for delivering insightful analyses, building strong relationships, and exhibiting a high level of professionalism -- competencies which he has translated to his real estate career. He lived in London and Singapore and traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, which gave him a perspective on New York?s position in the global real estate market. Charlie started his career as a high school math and Spanish teacher.
Charlie is highly analytical and detail-oriented, but also approachable and collaborative. He is a strong listener and patient when working with clients. He educates his clients at a macro level by synthesizing key findings from industry publications, and at a micro level by sharing his analysis of property-level dynamics in a given neighborhood or building. Charlie became interested in pursuing a real estate career while he was looking to buy an apartment with the help of his agent, and visualized himself partnering with others to meet or exceed their real estate goals in this fast-paced, dynamic industry.
Hailing from Ohio, Charlie has lived primarily in and around NYC since college. He owns an apartment in the Financial District, a neighborhood he loves for its history; amenities; looming skyscrapers; and exciting current developments, whether at the South Street Seaport or by the World Trade Center.
Charlie holds an MBA from Yale University, and a BA from Hamilton College where he double majored in Economics and Spanish. He spent a memorable junior year in Madrid, living with a local family and adhering to a Spanish-only rule in class. When he isn?t assisting clients, Charlie can be found playing Zogsports, volunteering for Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, and on TV as a part-time actor.
